FAQ

Do you have a question about working at ARCNL or doing an internship? See below our frequently asked questions.

What is the status of my application?

When you apply you’ll receive a confirmation by e-mail. Your application will be processed and examined by several scientific group leaders. It can take up to a few weeks before we get back to you with either an invitation for an interview or a rejection. If you haven’t received a response within 4 weeks after submitting your application, then please contact the group leader directly. The e-mail address can be found in the vacancy and on our website.

Read more about our application process.

Can I apply for several positions at the same time?

Yes, you can apply for multiple positions. However, these will have to be entered separately into our system.

I’m keen on working at ARCNL. Can I send an open application?

Please apply for one of the vacancies that are posted on the website. You can’t send in an open application for PhD, postdoc and tenure-track positions.

I’m keen on doing an internship, but there aren’t any openings

We encourage you to send your resume to the group leader and discuss the options.

I would like to do a scientific internship at ARCNL. How does this work and what are the qualifications?

Are you a bachelor or master student looking for an internship? Then check our vacancies. If there aren’t any internships posted for the group you’d like to work in, you can send an open application to the group leader of that specific group.

Qualifications:
• You’re currently studying physics, chemistry or a related subject.
• The internship must be a part of your curriculum.
• You’re a citizen of an EU-member state and/or you are a student at a Dutch University.
• You’re available for at least 6 months. In exceptional cases, shorter durations are possible.

We especially encourage students from technical universities to apply. At the start of the traineeship your trainee plan will be set out, in consultation with your ARCNL supervisor. This includes a small allowance.
