Bas Slotema

CV / Biography
Bas Slotema studied applied physics at the Eindhoven University of Technology, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2020 and his master’s degree in 2024. He also received a master’s degree in physics and astronomy at the Radboud University in Nijmegen in 2023. During his masters, he performed an internship at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching bei München, Germany. Here, he investigated the screening of magnetic fields in a tokamak, using the JOREK-CARIDDI MHD code, under the supervision of Dr. Matthias Hoelzl. He performed his thesis at the Dutch Institute for subatomic physics (Nikhef) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Aart Heijboer. Here he investigated the angular uncertainty for the detection of astrophysical muon neutrinos in the context of Km3NeT ARCA, an underwater neutrino detector, located in the Mediterranean seas.
In September 2024, Bas started at ARCNL in the EUV Plasma Processes group of Dr. Oscar Versolato. Here, he investigates the detection of ions in laser produced plasmas.
