In the annual article writing competition of the Dutch Journal of Physics (NTvN) former PhD student Matthijs Jansen got second place with his article ‘The color of X-ray radiation’. Jansen describes the development of a new measuring technique for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) spectroscopy that uses high harmonic generation as a light source. The article is based on research carried out in the EUV Generation and Imaging group led by Stefan Witte and Kjeld Eikema (both ARCNL/VU).

The NTvN organizes the competition to challenge physicists at the beginning of their career to write an engaging and accessible article explaining their research topic.

The Dutch article can be found on the NTvN website.
