Torben Ham
CV / Biography
Torben Ham studied physics at the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. For his Master thesis, he did an internship in the Interacting Photons group at AMOLF, where he worked on creating a superfluid of photons in a nonlinear optical microcavity. After a year of working in industry, he returned to academia to join the HHG and EUV science group at ARCNL in October 2023. His project is focused on using solid-state high harmonic spectroscopy to understand the electron dynamics in strongly correlated materials. With the extreme time resolution of HHG, the experimental results may be used to fabricate samples with an ultrafast switch from insulating to conducting.
