Pieter van Essen
CV / Biography
Pieter van Essen studied applied physics at the University of Twente, where he received both his bachelor (2021, cum laude) and master (2023). As part of his master’s program, he performed an internship at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology in Korea in the group of Dr. Jung-Hoon Park. This internship was related to ghost imaging and compressive sensing. The work for his master’s thesis he performed in the Complex Photonic Systems chair of Prof. Dr. Willem Vos at the University of Twente. This thesis was related to photonic crystals, quantum dots, and the control of spontaneous emission.
In May 2023 Pieter started at ARCNL in the HHG and EUV science group of Dr. Peter Kraus where his research is centered around the control of high harmonic generation in solids.
