CV / Biography

Martijn Reitsma received his MSc degree in Theoretical Physics in 2020 from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. In the same year, he started his PhD research under the supervision of Professor Anastasia Borschevsky in the Atoms, Ions and Molecules group at the van Swinderen Institute of the University of Groningen. His research focused on theoretical developments as well as studies of atomic energies, hyperfine structures and isotope shifts using ab initio electronic structure methods. His research contributed to the (re)evaluation of the nuclear moments and charge radii for a number of isotopes, as well as to the development of relativistic quintuple-zeta basis sets for the s- and p-block elements.

In August of 2024, Martijn started as a postdoctoral researcher at ARCNL, where he is a member of the EUV Plasma Processes group of Oscar Versolato. His current research is aimed at uncovering the fundamental electronic structure that is responsible for the emission of 13.5 nm EUV light in a hot and dense laser-driven tin plasma.
