PhD student Bo Liu (EUV Plasma Processes) has successfully defended his thesis ‘Morphology of liquid tin sheets formed by laser impact on droplets’ at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam on December 13^th. Liu carried out his doctoral research in the group of Oscar Versolato.

Liu experimentally studied the interaction of liquid tin microdroplets with a nanosecond-long Nd:YAG laser pulse. The study mainly focused on the underlying fluid dynamics that drives the thinning, fragmentation, and mass redistribution of the liquid target.
